The Cask of Amontillado The Cask of Amontillado “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe is a drivel about two men at a carnival, the vote counter Montresor, who is being eaten by jealousy, and Fortunato, a rich drunk laic concern that has a weakness for wine. It is through deception that Montresor achieves his retaliation against Fortunato.
